1. Confirm your admission and complete enrolment according to your university’s timetable and rules.
Within the deadlines published by the university for your programme and admission session.

Admission decision, diploma and transcript, identity document and programme-specific documents.
Timetables, documents and any fees differ between universities and programmes; follow the official instructions of your institution.

2. Check access to university platforms, your timetable, internal rules and the student documents you need.
After enrolment and before classes begin.
The university secretariat and official university platforms.
Student registration number, institutional account and programme regulations.

3. Check whether you are insured in the public health system and what proof or action your student status requires.
At the start of your studies and whenever your age, income, employment or insurance status changes.
CNAS/the competent health-insurance fund; choose a family doctor separately where applicable.
Identity document, student certificate and documents on income or another basis for insurance.
The conditions are not identical for all students; check your specific CNAS status and the rules for your category.

4. If you are an international student, separately check the residence obligations that apply to your status; arrange accommodation with the university or landlord.
Before the document allowing your stay expires and within the deadlines that apply to your category.

Accommodation contract/confirmation, identity document and residence documents.
Non-EU/EEA citizens have a specific residence-permit procedure for study purposes; EU/EEA citizens follow their own residence-registration regime.

5. Check scholarships, transport discounts and other forms of support for which you may be eligible.
At the start of the academic year/semester and during the application periods published by the university or the institution providing the support.

Student certificate, academic results, family income and any other required evidence.

6. If you are an international student and want to work, first check your right to work and any conditions linked to your residence permit.
Before starting work and whenever the basis or conditions of your stay change.
IGI; the employer separately checks the employment conditions.
Residence permit/status, employment contract, expected income and scholarship conditions.
Do not assume that student status gives all foreign citizens the same work rights; the rule depends on citizenship and the type of residence right.
