I am moving to another address in Romania
6 tasks in suggested order
1. Determine whether you are changing your registered domicile or only your temporary residence, and use the corresponding procedure.
After you have actually moved and obtained the right to use the dwelling, within the applicable deadline.
The local public community service for personal records (SPCLEP) responsible for the new address.
Identity document, proof of the address and the host’s consent, if required.
Domicile and residence are different legal concepts; a tenancy agreement does not update the population records by itself.

2. Apply for the appropriate identity document showing your new domicile and check exactly when the old document ceases to be valid.
Within the statutory deadline after changing your domicile.
The competent SPCLEP; appointment arrangements and the place of application may depend on the type of document and local implementation.
Application, photograph/biometrics where applicable, the old document, civil-status certificate and proof of address.
The electronic identity card and the simple identity card may follow different processes; use the current local instructions.

3. If you own a vehicle, check whether the address must be updated in the vehicle-registration records, on the registration certificate and with your insurer.
After changing your domicile, within the deadlines that apply to the vehicle records and the insurance policy.
The competent vehicle-registration service and your insurer.
Your new identity document, vehicle registration certificate, vehicle documents and insurance policy.
Updating your identity document does not automatically update all vehicle and RCA insurance data.

4. Tell your employer and any institution paying your pension, unemployment benefit or other benefits about the new address when it affects your file or correspondence.
Without undue delay after moving, before the next payment or official correspondence.
Your employer, AJOFM/AMOFM, the territorial pension house or the specific paying body.
Your new address, CNP and the relevant file or contract number.
Not every institution automatically receives your new address from the population records.
5. Transfer or close your electricity, gas, water, waste, internet and building-management contracts, and record the meter readings.
When handing over the old home and taking over the new one.
The landlord/owners’ association and each service provider.
Handover records, meter readings, customer numbers and the handover date.
Check who is named on each contract to avoid double billing or an interruption of service.
6. Arrange mail forwarding if useful and update your address directly with banks, insurers, subscription providers and your other private contracts.
During the move, in line with the contractual notice periods or deadlines.
The postal operator and each provider you have a contract with.
Your old and new address, identity document and customer numbers.
Mail forwarding does not replace updating your address with the sender.
