I brought a vehicle from abroad and want to register it in Romania
6 tasks in suggested order
1. Keep the purchase document and the foreign registration/technical documents required for the RAR and DGPCI procedures.
At purchase and before bringing the vehicle into the Romanian procedure.
Seller / authority in the country of origin.
Contract/invoice, registration documents and, where applicable, the certificate of conformity.
The required documents differ for a new vehicle, a used EU vehicle and a vehicle from outside the EU.

2. Complete the applicable RAR procedure for issuance of the CIV/approval and, for used vehicles subject to the rule, authenticity certification.

3. If the used vehicle falls within a category subject to authenticity certification, obtain the RAR certification before registration.

4. Take out the RCA insurance required for using and registering the vehicle.
Before the stage at which the application file or use of the vehicle requires proof of RCA.

5. Submit the file for first registration in Romania to the competent SPCRPCÎV.
After obtaining the technical documents and meeting the applicable conditions.
The SPCRPCÎV for the county of the owner’s domicile/registered office.
The documents on the current DGPCI list for a new or imported vehicle.

6. If you need to drive before permanent registration and meet the conditions, apply for a temporary circulation authorisation.
