2 tasks in suggested order
1. As the legal guardian, register the child for compulsory school attendance.
From January 15 to February 15 of the year in which the child is to begin compulsory school attendance.
The designated catchment-area primary school or another chosen primary school listed in the school register.
Application containing the child's and legal guardian's details; copy of the birth certificate and, if applicable, proof of authority to represent the child.
Admission to a school outside the catchment area depends on the headmaster's decision and the school's capacity.

2. If serious health reasons mean the child is not ready to start school, address a possible deferment during enrolment.
At first-grade enrolment.
The chosen primary school; supporting opinions from the required professionals are needed.
Deferment request plus recommendations from a school counselling facility and a specialist doctor or clinical psychologist under the current rules.
Deferment is not a routine alternative to enrolment; the headteacher decides and it can be granted only under statutory conditions.
