2 tasks in suggested order
1. First check which technical and registration documents are required based on the vehicle’s origin.
Before applying for registration.
Transport Portal / vehicle register information; if required for the specific import, a technical inspection station.
Proof of acquisition, technical and registration documents, insurance information and any required import/technical documents.
Requirements for a vehicle from another EU state can differ from a brand-new vehicle bought in Czechia; a non-EU vehicle has an additional approval step.

2. Apply to enter the vehicle in the road vehicle register and collect the registration documents and plates that apply to you.
Immediately after purchase or importation, if the vehicle is to be operated in the Czech Republic.
Transport Portal and any municipal authority of a municipality with extended powers.
Proof of technical roadworthiness/registration, or a technical inspection, insurance, and other documents depending on the vehicle's origin.
For vehicles imported from outside the EU, separate approval of technical roadworthiness may be required prior to registration.
