1. Formally end your studies with the higher education institution
If you want to end your studies permanently, clarify the formal deregistration procedure with your institution. At universities, admission ends, among other reasons, when the student deregisters from the programme.
At the desired end date, in accordance with your institution's rules.
Study/admissions office of your higher education institution.
Student details and the documents or online steps required by the institution.
Do not simply stop attending classes. Clarify the formal deregistration or end of admission and keep the confirmations.

2. Notify the study-grant authority about ending your studies
If applicable: Only if you receive a study grant.
Discontinuing studies is expressly reportable for recipients of a study grant because it can end or change entitlement.
Within 2 weeks.
Study Grant Authority or the competent scholarship office.
Grant details and proof or the date on which the studies were discontinued.
Failure to report can result in loss of entitlement and repayment claims.

3. Clarify health insurance again after ending your studies
If applicable: Relevant if your coverage depended on student status.
If your previous health insurance cover was tied to student status, check immediately after your studies end whether compulsory insurance, co-insurance or self-insurance exists or needs to be applied for.
As soon as the end of the studies is confirmed.
ÖGK or the health insurance institution responsible for you.
Insurance number and proof that the studies have ended, plus information about new employment or another basis for insurance.
Student self-insurance is subject to specific requirements. If no other insurance exists afterwards, voluntary self-insurance is available only on application.
