Moving to a different address in Slovakia
7 tasks in suggested order
1. Register your new permanent residence at the new address if you are changing your permanent residence.
When moving and deciding to change permanent residence.

You do not need to separately deregister at the original registry office when moving within the Slovak Republic; the new registry office will process the change.

2. Notify your employer and contractual partners that need the new address for correspondence or the contract.
After changing permanent residence if the information is not updated automatically.
Employer, bank, insurer, utilities, telecoms and other providers relevant to you.
New address and, if needed, the new identity document.
The Labour Office generally receives a registered jobseeker’s permanent-address change from the register; separately report mainly information that is not updated automatically.

3. At the new address, check municipal duties, especially municipal waste and, where relevant, dog tax.

4. Apply for a new identity card showing the new address.
Within 30 days of the change of permanent residence.

5. If you run a business, update your address in the relevant business registers or at the Trade Licensing Office.
After a change of permanent residence, if the change affects recorded data.

The Social Insurance Agency generally obtains information on routine changes of residence from the Register of Natural Persons; specific exceptions may apply to cross-border self-employed persons.

6. If you own a car and the change of address affects vehicle registration data, report the change and obtain new vehicle documents.
Within 30 days of the change, according to the official guide.
