1. If you have a foreign school certificate, check whether it is recognised in Poland by law or requires formal recognition.
Before using the certificate in a situation where you need to prove a particular level of school education.
The Ministry of National Education publishes the rules; where formal recognition is required, the competent authority depends on the type of certificate.
The original certificate and any required attachments or translations, depending on the country and type of document.
Certificates issued in the education systems of EU, OECD or EFTA countries, as well as certain other documents, are recognised by law. Do not assume that every foreign school certificate requires nostrification.

2. If you have a foreign higher-education diploma, check with NAWA whether it is recognised under the law or an international agreement, or whether nostrification is required.
Before using the foreign diploma where you need confirmation of its level or equivalence in Poland.
NAWA — first use the KWALIFIKATOR system; if you need individual written information about the diploma, apply electronically through the SYRENA system.
Diploma, diploma supplement or transcript, the document that gave access to the studies, required translations and an identity document — as specified by NAWA.
A foreign diploma may be recognised under an international agreement or by law; in other cases, nostrification may be required. NAWA information about a diploma is not always the same as formal nostrification.
