Entitlement depends not only on a finding of incapacity for work, but also on the required insurance record and, as a rule, on when the incapacity arose. The required record depends on age and ranges from 1 to 5 years; after age 30, the general rule is 5 years within the last 10 years.

As a rule, incapacity for work must arise during a period specified by law or within 18 months after that period ends. Exceptions include certain people who are completely incapable of work and have a sufficiently long insurance record.
