1. Check when your NCT is due
Use the official NCTS due-date checker. In the normal cycle, a car’s first NCT is due at the 4th anniversary of first registration, then every 2 years, and annually when it reaches its 10th anniversary.
When?
Check due date and book before expiry; official NCTS allows due-date lookup/booking.

National Car Testing Service (NCTS).
What to prepare?
Vehicle registration number/details and booking/payment information.
What to check?
A test can be taken up to 90 days before the due date without changing the certificate expiry. A test more than 90 days early is treated as a voluntary early test and the new certificate runs from the test date.
