1. Exchange an EU/EEA driving licence
A valid EU/EEA licence can be used in Ireland while it remains valid. NDLS states that if you exchange it for an Irish licence, you must do so within 10 years of the foreign licence expiring.
When?
EU/EEA licence holders can generally drive while licence remains valid; exchange timing and eligibility depend on issuing country/status.

National Driver Licence Service (NDLS).
What to prepare?
Current foreign licence, identity/PPSN/address/residence evidence and medical/eyesight documents if the NDLS route requires them.
What to check?
A licence that an EU/EEA state itself issued in exchange for a licence from a non-exchange country may not be exchangeable in Ireland.
