1. Book and give marriage notification at least 3 months before the marriage
Both parties generally attend a Civil Registration Service appointment. The notification fee is €200 and is non-refundable.
Book early; waiting times vary. The statutory notification period is normally at least 3 months.
HSE Civil Registration Service.
Valid photo ID and copy, original birth certificates and copies, proof of address dated within the last 3 months, PPS numbers, ceremony/venue/solemniser details and witness details.
Extra documents or procedures can apply for divorce, widowhood, foreign documents or non-resident couples.

2. If you live outside Ireland, check the postal-notification route and the pre-ceremony meeting requirement
If applicable: If one or both of you live outside Ireland and cannot attend the standard notification appointment in Ireland.
The official route allows postal notification in relevant cases, but you must still meet the registrar at least 5 days before the ceremony.
