2. Complete the official ownership transfer and confirm you are recorded as the new owner
For a private-to-private online transfer, the seller starts with the registration/VRC details, receives a one-time transfer PIN and shares it with the buyer; the buyer completes the transfer using verified MyGovID. A new VRC is then posted to the buyer.

3. Arrange motor insurance before driving on public roads

4. Tax the vehicle using the official Motor Tax route when tax is due
Motor tax can be paid online for most vehicles or through the local Motor Tax Office. Check the current vehicle record after ownership transfer.
