I am a third-country national and want to work in Czechia with an Employee Card

1. Check whether the Employee Card is the correct residence title for your situation or whether you fall under a different work regime.

The Employee Card is not the only route to work; people with free access to the labour market, holders of a work permit or other categories may follow a different procedure.

2. Secure a specific job and the employment document required for your type of application. If an Employee Card vacancy number is required, obtain it.

Employment contract, future contract agreement or another permitted document under the official conditions.

3. Submit the Employee Card application through the correct route depending on whether you apply from abroad or are entitled to apply in Czechia.
After meeting the conditions and preparing the documents.
If applying in Czechia: the Ministry of the Interior office responsible for your residence address; if applying abroad: the competent Czech diplomatic mission according to the rules for the specific application.
Travel document, proof of purpose of stay, accommodation and other attachments in the current official list.

4. After approval, complete the arrival and residence-card steps and start work only when your specific route allows it.

When you may start work depends on where the application was filed, the type of residence authorisation and your access to the labour market. Not every applicant may start work immediately after filing.
