1. Find civil registry office for marriage
The official portal describes the preparatory civil registry procedure and documents that may be required depending on personal circumstances.
Complete the preparatory marriage procedure before the ceremony; only make binding plans for the date after the review/confirmation.
Zivilstandsamt; the preparatory procedure is generally carried out at the Zivilstandsamt at the place of residence of one of the engaged persons.
Passport/ID and civil-status evidence; for foreign documents/status, the Zivilstandsamt decides which further documents are required.
Both persons must confirm the requirements personally; foreign engaged persons may also need immigration-related evidence.
