A birth generally has to be reported to the competent civil registry office within three days; for hospital births, the hospital normally does this.
When?
A birth must generally be reported within 3 days.
Where / who?
Zivilstandsamt at the place of birth; for births in a hospital/birth centre, the facility generally makes the report.
What to prepare?
Identity/civil-status documents of the parents required by the Zivilstandsamt.
What to check?
For a birth outside an institution, the parents/persons present must organise the notification themselves.
