1. Deregister the old residence
When you give up accommodation in Austria, you generally have to deregister that residence. If you register a new residence in Austria, the previous residence can be deregistered in the same registration process.
Within 3 days before moving out or up to 3 days after moving out.
Registration authority: municipal office; in statutory cities, the Magistrat; in Vienna, the Municipal District Office. Deregistration is possible in person, by post and – if the requirements of the digital public service are met – online.
Identity documents and the information required by the official registration guidance; if registering a new residence at the same time, the documents for the new residence.
For online deregistration you need ID Austria or EU Login and must have been registered in Austria at least once before. When registering a new residence in Austria, the previous accommodation can be deregistered in the same registration process.
