7 tasks in suggested order

2. Register the company or, if you trade under a different business name, register that business name with the CRO

A business name used by an individual, partnership or company instead of the legal name must be registered with the CRO within 1 month of adopting it. CRO currently lists a €20 electronic / €40 paper filing fee for a new business name.

3. Register for the taxes that apply and set up Revenue online filing

Revenue requires tax registration when you become a sole trader, set up a trust/partnership or start a company. Sole traders need a PPSN; once registered, returns and payments are generally handled through ROS as required.
