Jobseeker registration should be made immediately, no later than three months before employment ends; if notice is shorter, generally within three days.
When?
Immediately; at the latest 3 months before the end of employment. If you learn of the end later, generally within 3 days.
Where / who?
Bundesagentur für Arbeit online, by telephone or in person.
What to prepare?
Personal details and information about the end of employment.
What to check?
Registering as a jobseeker does not replace registering as unemployed. If you fail to register as a jobseeker or register late, unemployment benefit can be subject to a 1-week suspension period.
