To receive unemployment benefit, unemployment registration is required in addition to jobseeker registration according to Federal Employment Agency rules.
When?
At the earliest 3 months beforehand; at the latest on the first day of unemployment.
Where / who?
Agentur für Arbeit online with eID/BundID or in person.
What to prepare?
For in-person registration, identity card or passport plus Meldebescheinigung; further information for the benefit application.
What to check?
Benefits can generally start only from the day of unemployment registration. After a longer interruption, a new registration may be required.
