State-recognised debt counselling services provide free advice and can assist, among other things, with out-of-court settlements, payment plans and preparation for court debt settlement proceedings.
As early as possible, once debts can no longer be serviced in an orderly way on a lasting basis or enforcement action and new arrears are threatened.
