Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have their main residence in Austria. Changes to personal details must be reported to OBS; according to the official information, a new application is required if income changes. Since 1 April 2026, an existing ORF exemption can also be relevant to the social electricity tariff; students are excluded from this.
