1. Apply for care allowance
Nursing care allowance is not granted automatically and must be applied for. An increase must also be requested if the need for care has risen substantially.
As soon as the requirements may be met, or if the need for care has increased substantially.
Apply to the competent pension or insurance institution. Under the official rules, an application submitted to a body that is not competent is forwarded to the competent institution.
Enclose available medical findings and other documents concerning the need for care, or have them ready for the assessment.
After the application, the need for care is generally assessed by a doctor or a qualified nursing professional; the assessed need for care, not the diagnosis alone, is decisive.
