Student finance during serious personal reason suspension

1. Ask Student Finance England about funding while suspended for illness or another serious personal reason
If applicable: If Student Finance England funds your course.
If you are funded by Student Finance England, you may still receive some student finance while suspended for illness, bereavement or another serious personal reason. For serious illness, eligible Maintenance Loan/grant support can include up to 60 extra days; other serious-reason help is assessed by SFE.
As soon as the university/college records the suspension and you know you need financial support while away from the course.

2. Ask your Scottish, Welsh or Northern Ireland student-finance body what support continues during suspension
If applicable: If your student finance is provided by Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
Students funded by SAAS, Student Finance Wales or Student Finance Northern Ireland must use that body’s own suspension/exceptional-circumstances rules. Your university or college also needs to record the suspension and return status.
As soon as the suspension is agreed and you need to know which payments can continue or will be recalculated.
