1. Tell your university/college and student-finance provider when you return after suspension
When you return, your provider and student-finance body need the correct return date so funding can restart/recalculate. GOV.UK says funding can restart automatically when returning to the same course in the same academic year; a return in a new academic year or starting a new course from 1 January 2027 requires a new funding application under the applicable route.
Before or as soon as the return date is confirmed, and before relying on a scheduled student-finance payment.
Your university/college and the student-finance body for your home nation: Student Finance England, SAAS, Student Finance Wales or Student Finance Northern Ireland.
Customer/reference number, course details, suspension date, confirmed return date and any evidence your finance provider requests.
The exact reapplication/reassessment process differs by funding body and course start date. Follow the nation-specific provider rather than assuming an England process applies across the UK.
