From 1 August 2026, where the mother’s expected delivery date is recorded electronically, the Social Insurance Agency starts the procedure proactively from the beginning of the sixth week before the expected delivery; if birth occurs earlier, from the date of birth.

Under the proactive procedure you do not submit a separate application; the gynaecologist must record the expected delivery date in the electronic pregnancy record. If this procedure does not apply, use the Social Insurance Agency application and procedure for your insurance status.

The no-application proactive procedure applies to the mother when the expected delivery date is recorded electronically. The father or another insured person still uses their own application. Entitlement and amount depend on the sickness-insurance conditions.
