1. Choose a paediatrician and arrange the child’s first care after discharge.

2. If the child was born at home, report the birth to the registry office.

No later than 3 working days after the birth.

3. Sign the parental agreement regarding the child's first name and surname.

When?

No later than the day after birth, if handled at the maternity hospital.

Maternity hospital / electronically via the available service.

What to prepare?

Parents' identity documents.

What to check?

Without an agreement, automatic issuance of the birth certificate may not be possible.

4. If the parents are unmarried and paternity has not been established, arrange for a joint declaration of paternity.

When?

Before or after birth, depending on the situation.

Civil Registry Office / relevant electronic service.

5. Check which steps happened automatically, especially health insurance, permanent residence and the birth allowance, and act only where automation does not apply to your case.

6. Apply for family benefits to which you are entitled but which are not granted automatically (e.g., child allowance, parental allowance, or childcare allowance).

When?

Once eligibility arises, depending on the specific benefit.

What to prepare?
