1. Before buying, check the vehicle, its identifiers, documents and who is entitled to transfer it.
Before signing and payment.
At the vehicle and in available official records/documents.

2. Before the registration step, arrange compulsory motor insurance and compare several offers by price and terms.
Before filing the holder change where valid compulsory insurance is required.

3. Complete the change of holder/owner in the vehicle register under the current procedure.
After purchase under the statutory holder-change procedure.
Vehicle-registration office or electronic service if eligible.
Vehicle documents, seller/buyer details, insurance evidence and any required authorisation.

4. After transfer, check the new vehicle documents, registration plate and services linked to the holder or plate number.
After the registration step is completed.
Vehicle registry and relevant service providers.

If the plate number or holder changed, check parking, motorway vignette and other services linked to those details.
