1. Statutory sick leave from employer
The current statutory entitlement remains 5 days per calendar year. It is employer-paid at 70% of gross earnings, capped at €110 per day, subject to the statutory conditions.
The entitlement applies after at least 13 weeks’ service with the employer and requires a medical certificate. Unused statutory sick-leave days do not carry into the next calendar year.

A more favourable employer sick-pay scheme can apply instead. After statutory sick leave is exhausted, Illness Benefit may apply if you meet its PRSI and medical-certification conditions.
