1. Check entry, residence and work rules for your destination

4. Redirect post abroad and tell key contacts your new address

5. Update Revenue with your overseas contact details and check tax residence / split-year treatment
If you leave Ireland permanently or for an extended period, update contact details through myAccount or ROS. If relevant, check whether split-year treatment applies for the year of departure and whether Irish filing obligations remain.

6. Notify DSP before a permanent or semi-permanent move and check each payment separately
DSP requires customers moving abroad permanently or semi-permanently to notify the department and provide a contact address abroad. Whether payment can continue depends on the individual scheme.
Before travel or moving abroad, check whether the specific social welfare payment can continue and what must be reported.
Department of Social Protection for each payment; Revenue/other agencies if tax/residence also changes.
Travel/departure dates, destination, payment details and continuing eligibility evidence.
Rules differ by payment and by temporary holiday vs permanent relocation. Never assume one welfare rule applies to all payments.
