Disability Allowance is a means-tested weekly payment. In 2026 the maximum personal rate is €254. You must generally be aged 16 to 65, have a disability expected to last at least 1 year that substantially restricts suitable work, satisfy the means test and meet habitual-residence conditions.
Apply when the qualifying conditions are met. Disability Allowance stops at age 66, when State Pension eligibility is considered.
Department of Social Protection; use the DA1 application route and submit the supporting medical/means evidence requested.

Work does not automatically disqualify you: the first €165 of weekly employment income after specified deductions is disregarded, 50% of earnings from €165 to €375 is disregarded, and earnings above €375 are fully assessed.
