Before moving out, give the correct written notice, pay rent and your utility bills, take final meter readings, remove belongings/rubbish, clean the property and compare it with the move-in inventory. Take end-of-tenancy photos. The landlord may deduct for rent arrears, unpaid tenant bills, damage beyond normal wear and tear, or insufficient notice.
Document condition at move-in and move-out; request deposit return after tenancy obligations are completed.
Landlord/agent; RTB for official rights/dispute procedures.
Deposit receipt, inventory, dated photos, meter readings and proof of rent/bill payments.
The deposit does not have to be returned on the day you move out because the landlord may need time to inspect the property. RTB dispute resolution is available if there is a deposit dispute.
