2 tasks in suggested order
1. Register with RAV
If unemployment is imminent or has begun, registration with the RAV should be made as early as possible, no later than the first day for which benefits are claimed.
As early as possible, at the latest on the first day for which unemployment compensation is claimed.
Regional Employment Centre (RAV); registration may also be available via Job-Room depending on the service.
AHV number, identity, information on the last employment relationship and job search.
Actively look for work and keep evidence already during the notice period; RAV and the unemployment fund have different roles.

2. Job loss with residence permit
Residence conditions depend on the purpose of stay; cantons are responsible for issuing permits.
The deadline and type of permit depend on the reason for residence and nationality; check the cantonal procedure.
Cantonal migration/residents' authority.
Passport/ID plus evidence of employment, self-employment, study or sufficient means/insurance depending on status.
EU/EFTA and third-country rules differ significantly.
