For permanent departure, deregistration, insurance, taxes and other authority contacts must be checked depending on the situation.

Before moving abroad permanently, deregister with the municipality according to the cantonal procedure; after deregistration, Swiss citizens must generally register with the competent Swiss representation abroad within 90 days.

Municipality/canton of residence and, depending on status, tax/insurance bodies; for Swiss citizens abroad, subsequently the Swiss representation.

Where / who?

Contact your own health insurer first; for cross-border exceptions use the competent bodies identified by the Federal Office of Public Health.

What to prepare?

Have proof of deregistration/new residence and evidence of employment, pension, posting or cross-border status ready where relevant.
