1. Enter a registered partnership
Before a registered partnership is established, it is checked whether both persons meet the statutory requirements. The partnership itself is established by both persons appearing personally and simultaneously before a civil-status authority.
Clarify the appointment and required documents with the registry office in good time; establishing the partnership requires legal age and capacity to enter into a registered partnership.
Civil-status authority (registry office). Subject to the statutory requirements, a registered partnership can also be established outside the authority’s premises.

An existing marriage or registered partnership, as well as certain close family or adoptive relationships, prevents establishment of the partnership. Changing from marriage to a registered partnership or vice versa is not automatic and first requires judicial dissolution of the existing status.
