I am a third-country national and want a residence permit for business purposes
3 tasks in suggested order
1. First check whether your planned business requires temporary residence for business and where you are allowed to apply.
Before starting the business or residence procedure.
Ministry of Interior / Foreign Police or Slovak embassy/consulate depending on the case.
Travel document, current residence status and business plan/activity.
Conditions for applying inside Slovakia are not the same for every third-country national.

2. Submit the application and provide evidence of the business purpose, accommodation, financial resources and other documents on the current list.
Before carrying out the activity where residence authorisation is required for the business.
Slovak embassy/consulate or competent Foreign Police department under the filing rules.
Valid travel document, photograph and documents proving the business purpose and other statutory conditions.
Foreign documents may require certified translation and legalisation; use the current Ministry of Interior list.

3. After residence is granted, complete the business registration and follow-up duties concerning insurance, residence card and reporting changes.
After residence approval and before actually starting the activity if business authorisation is still missing.
Point of Single Contact/Commercial Register, health insurer and Foreign Police depending on the duty.
Residence decision/card and documents for the chosen business form.
Business residence and business authorisation are two different things; both sets of conditions must be met.
